My Special Aflac Duck is a social robot that offers a sense of comfort, joy and control to children undergoing cancer treatment. My Special Aflac Duck was designed hand in hand with more than 100 children, families and medical professionals. In 2018, Aflac debuted My Special Aflac Duck as part of its 25-year, $150M commitment to childhood cancer research and treatment. Aflac has distributed over 10,000 My Special Aflac Ducks to over 300 hospitals and childhood cancer associations. Aflac also debuted its CLS Care Kit, designed to aid and support child life specialists in using the duck with their patients.
Lifelike Motion
Kids can enjoy lifelike interactions with the duck’s realistic expressions. The duck nuzzles when petted, calms when the lights are low, and has a comforting heartbeat and purring vibration
Medical Play
Kids can mirror the treatment they are receiving with medical play accessories, including a stethoscope, thermometer, pulse oximeter, syringe and the port-a-cath accessory.
Emotion Expression
It’s not always easy for kids to communicate how they’re feeling. Kids can tap one of seven feeling cards to the duck’s chest, and the duck will embody and express that emotion!
Soothing Soundscapes
Kids can tap the Spaceship to the duck’s chest to play calming Soundscapes from an ocean, forest and more.
